Lynnette I. Taylor, age 95, of Warrensburg, Mo., died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2007, at the Warrensburg Manor Care Center.

Lynnette was born Feb. 8, 1912, in Merrill, to Frank and Bessie (Bray) Veidt. Her mother died when Lynnette was one year old, and she was raised in Le Mars by her grandparents and a loving family of aunts and uncles. She attended Clark Elementary and graduated from Le Mars High School in 1931.

She married Dan Taylor on June 24, 1932 in Le Mars. They spent their early years together in Le Mars. In 1945 the family moved to Florida to be near Dan who was finishing his tour with the Army Air Corps. After the war, the family lived in North Dakota, Le Mars, Ohio and Connecticut eventually settling in Warrensburg, Mo. in 1956. Warrensburg has been her home ever since.

While living in Le Mars, in addition to raising a family Lynnette was a member of the Eastern Star and the Methodist Church. In Warrensburg, she worked a number of years in DeBacker's Flower Shop and pursued her interest in gardening and crafts.

Lynnette and her husband built their own home south of Warrensburg and lived there until he was killed in a job accident in 1974. She continued to live there until 2003. After retiring from the flower shop, Lynnette focused more and more on her crafts. Her creativity, aesthetic sense and skill with her hands allowed her to work with a variety of projects, including flower and dried arrangements, Christmas tree ornaments, stuffed animals, and molded sugar Easter eggs with scenes inside. Most of these went to friends and family, but she also sold some of her work in local shops. She became a member of the Hospital Auxiliary, and was particularly proud of the items she made to be sold at their annual Christmas fundraiser.

She was also an avid organic gardener, sharing her vegetables with friends and neighbors. Lynnette was a special lady, always willing to give of herself for others, and will be missed by all who knew her. Deteriorating eyesight and a mild stroke caused her to move to Harmony Gardens Assisted Living in 2003 where she spent four contented years. Her final days were spent at Warrensburg Manor Care Center.

Lynnette is survived by two sons, Dan Taylor and wife, Janet, of Bellingham, Wash., and Tom Taylor and wife, Barbara of Sumpter, Ore.; four grandchildren: Mike Taylor and wife, Lavern, of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Cindy Taylor of LaPorte, Ind., Nat Taylor and wife, Karrisa, and Ian Taylor and wife, Calin, all of Seattle, Wash. She is also survived by two close cousins, Barbara Korff and her husband Ray of Le Mars and Rodney Bray of Pasadena, Calif.

Graveside services will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars. The Rev. Jason Larson of the United Methodist Church of Le Mars will officiate.
