CAUSE OF DEATH: following a lengthy illness
DATE of DEATH: Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001
PLACE of DEATH: at Happy Siesta Health Care Center, in Remsen, Iowa
DATE of BIRTH: July 7, 1928
PLACE of BIRTH: rural Oyens, Iowa
PARENTS: son of George and Josephine (Arens) Homan
SPOUSE & DATE of MARRIAGE: Delia Frank, Jan. 9, 1960
PLACE OF MARRIAGE: Remsen, Iowa
OCCUPATION: On Sept. 17, 1952, he entered the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War, stationed in Germany. On Sept. 9, 1954, he was discharged and returned to Alton to farm with his father. After marriage, he became the manager of the Remsen Liquor Store in May 1960, which he operated for the State of Iowa until 1987. He was then transferred to the Department of Revenue in Sioux City, where he worked until retiring in 1991.
SURVIVORS: include his wife, Delia, of Remsen; a daughter, Julie Homan of Remsen; a son, Jeff, of St. Louis, Mo.; a grandson, T.J. Homan of St. Louis; a granddaughter, Cortney Homan of Remsen; his mother-in-law, Catherine “Tene” Frank of Remsen; a brother and his wife, Dale and Sharon of Remsen; a sister-in-law, Francie Mae “Bib” Homan of Remsen; and a brother-in-law, Don Pick.
PRECEDED in DEATH by: his parents; a brother, Lyle; and a sister, Helen Pick.
PLACE of BURIAL: St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Remsen, Iowa
