MRS. MARIE L. DIRKS
Mrs. Marie L. Dirks, 68, LeMars, a lifelong Plymouth county resident, died Thursday (Dec. 16, 1976) at Plymouth Manor Care Center after an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, Grant Township, with Rev. William Reck officiating.
Burial will be in the Christ Lutheran Cemetery, Grant township, under the direction of the Luken-Johnson Funeral Home.
A family prayer service will be held Friday at 7 p.m.
The former Marie Popken, she was born Dec. 30, 1907, at rural Akron, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Fred Popken.
She and John Dirks were married June 30, 1926, at Christ Lutheran Church, Grant township.
Mrs. Dirks was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Grant township.
Survivors are her husband John of LeMars; son Garry, Mesa, Ariz.; six brothers, Richard of Hawarden, John of Akron, George of Wilmington, Del., Fred of Ireton, Elmer of Hudson, S.D., and William of LeMars.
Also surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Theresa Rohlfs of Randolph, Neb., Mrs. Earl (Freda) Gillan of Carthage, S.D., Mrs. Katherine Bloomquist of McClean, Neb., and Mrs. Leonard (Tillie) Lamoureux, Akron.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.
