AKRON, Iowa—Ethel C. Dirks, 97, of Akron died Sunday, Oct. 23, 1994, at the Akron Convalescent Care Center after a long illness.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Akron with the Rev. William Flemr officiating. Burial will be in Christ Lutheran Church, rural Akron. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. today, with the family present 6-8 p.m. at the Schroeder Funeral Home, Akron.
Mrs. Dirks was born March 7, 1897, in Raymond, S.D., the daughter of John and Mary (Janssen) Bruns. She attended rural school and Western Union College in LeMars. She married Henry Dirks May 16, 1917, in Brunsville. The couple lived in Raymond a number of years and moved to Iowa in 1901 (sic.) They purchased a farm where Brunsville is now located, having received its name from the Bruns family. Mr. Dirks died in 1986.
Mrs. Dirks was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Senior Citizens and Golden Age Club.
Survivors include a son, Ronald J. Dirks of Malden, Mo.; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Leonard.
