WESTFIELD, Iowa -- John Milton Mount, 96, of Chokio, Minn., formerly of Westfield, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, at his residence.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris, Minn. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home.

John Mount, age 96, of Chokio, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 20, at his home in Chokio.

Memorial services for John Mount will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Pedersen Funeral Home.

John Milton Mount was born on September 5, 1907, in Westfield, Iowa, to Allie and Bertha (Lovell) Mount. He grew up in Oklahoma, South Dakota and Iowa.

He was in CC Camp in Arkansas in 1933-34. He spent some time in working and fighting fires in the Steamboat Springs area of Colorado, and the latter part of the 1930s working in northeast Nebraska.

John was married to Louella Amundson on October 12, 1940, in Dakota City, Nebraska. The couple farmed in northeast Nebraska before moving to Alberta in 1951 and to Chokio in 1959.

The couple continued to farm, and John drove school bus for the Alberta, Chokio and Chokio-Alberta schools for 27 years. He retired from farming and school bus driving in 1972.

John is survived by one son, John (Barb) Mount; one daughter, Shirlee Mount; three grandchildren, Lisa (Richard) Erickson, John II (Frances) Mount, and Kim Hauersperger; five great-grandchildren, John Mount III, Katrina Mount, Austin Hauersperger, Brandon Hauersperger and Hayden Hauersperger; and one sister-in-law, Margaret (Ralph) Mesick.

He was preceded in death by his wife on March 27, 1997; his parents; four brothers, Charley, Manuel, James and Billy; and two sisters, Sophronia Hummel and Blanche Green.

The Reverend Mark Swanson will officiate at the services. Visitation will be for one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Arrangements are with Pedersen Funeral Home.
