HARVEY A. DEWEY

AKRON, Iowa—Harvey A. Dewey, 82, of Akron died Tuesday, July 11, 2000, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Akron, with the Rev. Dan Stegan officiating. Burial will be in Union Creek Lutheran Cemetery, rural Akron, S.D. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. today, with the family present 7-8 p.m., at Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.

Mr. Dewey was born Aug. 22, 1917, in Parker, S.D., the son of Lester and Amelia (Thiel) Dewey.

He married Marie Mikkelsen on June 8, 1941, in Viborg, S.D. The couple farmed in Iowa and South Dakota before retiring to Akron in 1982.

He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where he served as an usher. He was active in Union County, S.D. Farm Bureau and Akron Lions Club.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters and their husbands, Carol and Kenneth Larson of Akron and Elaine and Robert Rietz of Brookings, S.D.; a son and his wife, Richard and Nancy of Sioux City; two brothers, Mahlon of Sumner, Wash., and Harlyn of Westfield, Iowa; a sister and her husband, Eileen and Laurel Franklin of Fort Myers, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Leone Dewey of Westfield; nine grandchildren, Warren, Mark and Staci Larson, Roy, Tricia, Rebecca and Robin Rietz, Dianna (Dewey) Beeken and Sharon (Dewey) Logsdon; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Gordon; and two brothers, Gene and Duane.

Pallbearers will be Roy Rietz, Warren, Staci and Mark Larson, Brian Beeken and Paul Logsdon.
