SOPHIA M. DELPERDANG
AKRON, Iowa—Sophia Margaret (Popken) Delperdang, 96, of Akron, formerly of Sioux City, died Friday, June 2, 1995, at the Akron Convalescent Care Center following a brief illness.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron with the Rev. William Flemr, Pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Akron. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, with the family present after 6 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mrs. Delperdang was born Jan. 24, 1899, in Grant township, Plymouth county, the daughter of Herman and Tena Popken. She attended school in Struble, Iowa, and was confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in LeMars, Iowa. She married Peter H. Delperdang in 1918 in Craig, Iowa. He died in 1962. The couple made their home in Sioux City, where she worked as a nurses aide at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital for 10 years, retiring in 1964.
Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Evelyn and Fred Claesson of Akron, and Irene and Robert Mallory of Sioux City; three grandchildren, Nancy Tonkin, Kathy Link, and Robert Setbacken; a sister and her husband, Rose and Fred Oltmanns of LeMars, Iowa; two nieces and five great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Gratie Mueller, and a brother, John.
Pallbearers will be family members.
