LaVERN S. DALTON

LeMARS, Iowa—LaVern Sarola Dalton, 88, of LeMars, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at Floyd Valley Hospital in LeMars.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars, with the Rev. Dan Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Kingsley Cemetery, Kingsley, Iowa. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Sunday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. officiated by the Rev. Martha Anderson, all at the funeral home.

Mrs. Dalton was born Sept. 23, 1912, in Ida Grove, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Lena (Jessen) Wenzel. She was raised in the Kingsley area and attended country school.

She married Bill Dalton on July 26, 1932, in Sioux City. The couple lived on a farm near Kingsley. She moved to LeMars in 1957. She was employed with Truck Haven Café in LeMars for many years. Following her retirement, she continued to live in LeMars. She had been a resident of Plymouth Manor Care Center for a year.

She was a member of Order of Eastern Star and enjoyed collecting knickknacks, raising flowers and crocheting.

Survivors include a daughter, Karen Underwood of Sioux City; a son and his wife, Larry and Caron of LeMars; her ex-husband Bill of Kingsley; 14 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and five great great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Maxine Conner; four grandchildren, Teresa, Larry Jr., Jaylene and Lisa Dalton; a great great grandson; a sister, Ruth Struve; and two brothers, Ray and Cliff.
