ANTHON, Iowa—Elva D. Conley, 88, of Anthon, died Wednesday, Feb. 14, 1996, at the Plymouth Manor Care Center in LeMars, Iowa.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. today at the Church of Christ in Anthon with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery in Anthon. There will be no visitation. The Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Conley, the former Elva D. Mills, was born March 28, 1907, on a farm south of Kingsley, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph Richard and Lucy Doson (Newton) Mills. She graduated from Kingsley High School in 1924 and taught in rural Woodbury County schools for a number of years. She married Ed Conley, Feb. 6, 1929, in Kingsley. The couple farmed in the Kingsley area until 1943, when they moved to a farm near Anthon. They farmed there until 1969, when they retired and moved to Anthon. Mr. Conley died March 17, 1976. Mrs. Conley worked for many years at the crafts division of the Woodbury County Fair. She was well-known for her knitting and crocheting, and exhibited her needlework at many local craft shows.
Mrs. Conley was a member of the Church of Christ in Anthon.
Survivors include two sons and their wives, Don and Dolores of Iowa City, Iowa, and John and Barbara of Merrill, Iowa; nine grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by four brothers, four sisters, and two grandchildren.
