LE MARS, Iowa---Nicholas R. “Nick” Coad, 77, of LeMars died of cancer Thursday, Nov. 18, 1999, at his residence.
There will be no services. Private burial of the cremains will be in Memorial Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Feuerstein Funeral Home in LeMars.
Mr. Coad was born Dec. 24, 1921, in LeMars, the son of William A. and Lucile M. (Richardson) Coad. He was raised in LeMars and graduated from LeMars Central High School in 1940. He attended the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a surgical technician from 1942 to 1946. Following his discharge, he farmed and was a cattle feeder for many years in Plymouth County, Iowa.
He married Delores Mueller on Jan. 12, 1951, in Sioux City. In 1967, he began employment with Terra Chemical Co., in Merrill, Iowa, where he was a manager for 20 years. He retired in 1987. He enjoyed hunting and skeet shooting.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter and her husband, Dianne and Donald Peterson of Ankeny, Iowa; a son William R., of LeMars; and a grandson, Nicholas W. Coad.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Charles; and three sisters, Helen Mathers, Carolyn McNally and Marcella Harper.
Memorials can be directed to Plymouth County Hospice of Siouxland or American Cancer Society.
