ROMAN S. WANDERSCHEID

SAUK CENTRE, MINN. --- Roman S. Wanderscheid, 84, of Sauk Centre, Minn., died Friday, March 21, 1997, at Saint Michael’s Hospital in Sauk Centre.

Roman Wanderscheid was born on May 8, 1912, in Oyens, the son of Paul and Elizabeth (Kieffer) Wanderscheid. On Aug. 4, 1935, he married Celesta Ruba in Tallulah, La. The couple farmed in Louisiana until 1936, when they moved to LeMars. They later farmed at Lake Wilson and Iona, Minn. In 1949 they moved to Long Prairie, Minn., and in 1957 to Raymond Township, Stearns County, near Sauk Centre.

He was a member of Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Padua, Minn., Padua Senior Citizens, Bishop Busch Council 4863 Knights of Columbus and Sinclair Lewis Aerie 3847 Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Survivors include one daughter, Connie Plueger and her husband, Kenneth, of LeMars; three sons, Bud Wanderscheid of Clarissa, Minn., Dick Wanderscheid and his wife, Mary Lou of Sauk Centre, and Jim Wanderscheid and his wife, Sharon, of Brandon, S.D.; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Celesta on Sept. 24, 1988; an infant son; three brothers, Martin, Nick and John Wanderscheid and four sisters, Mary Masuen, Katherine Groth, Lillian Milfs and Clarinda Bergin.

Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. today (Monday) at Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Padua, with the Rev. James Statz officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Sauk Centre. The Patton-Schad Funeral Service of Sauk Centre is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Greg Plueger, Brian, Jeff, Keith, Steve, David, Mike and Rick Wanderscheid.
