Agnes Ruppert, 91, of Le Mars and formerly of Alton, died Wedneday, May 7, 2008, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars, IA.
Agnes Ruppert was born Jan. 17, 1923, at rural Granville, the daughter of Peter and Anna (Kosse) Bindner. Agnes was raised and educated in the Granville area and graduated from St. Mary Academy in Alton in 1941. She then taught in the rural school system in the Alton area.
On Aug. 21, 1946 she married Victor Ruppert at Granville. They farmed south of Alton, moved into Alton in 1967 and retired from farming in 1970. Victor died Sept. 2, 1996.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Le Mars and a former member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton.
Survivors include two sons and their wives and two granddaughters, Michael and Karen of Bushnell, Ill., and their daughter, Jessica of St. Loius, Mo., and Daniel and Tameka of Alton, and their daughter, Ambar Robinson of Sheldon; and one brother-in-law, Carl Homan of Indianola.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Peter; two brothers and their wives, William and Helen Bindner, Bernard "Barney" and Evelyn Bindner: three sisters, Caroline and her husband Everett "Jake" Roetzel, Martha and her husband Cyril Kokenge and Susan Homan.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Alton with the Rev. John Vakulskas officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery in Alton.
Friends may call any time after 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Alton. There will be a rosary at 3 p.m. by the St. Mary Rosary Society and a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m., all at the church.
The Fisch Funeral Home of Remsen is in charge of arrangements.
