FRED SUSEMIHL DEAD AT 88
AFTER ATTACK AT RECEPTIONFred William Susemihl, 88, longtime LeMars and Merrill area resident, died Saturday (Dec. 7, 1974) at Floyd Valley hospital after a week’s illness.
Mr. Susemihl collapsed Sunday, Dec. 1, while attending his 60th wedding anniversary reception with Mrs. Susemihl at Presbyterian United Church of Christ, LeMars. He was taken by ambulance to the hospital.
He was born April 16, 1886, at Merrill and lived there and in LeMars his entire life. He was a retired farmer. His parents were the late Julius and Emma Ewart Susemihl.
His marriage to Emma Buehre took place Dec. 2, 1914, at rural Merrill.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Plymouth United Church of Christ with Rev. Ralph Nelson officiating.
Burial will be in Plymouth Presbyterian cemetery, rural LeMars, under direction of the Mauer funeral home, LeMars.
A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Survivors are his wife, Emma; two sons, Marvin, LeMars, and Arthur of Grand Junction, Colo.; two daughters, Mrs. Earnest (Esther) Beitelspacher, LeMars, and Dorothy Susemihl, Seattle, Wash.; 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ulrich Susemihl, Sioux City.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
