Steven Paul Baker, 52, of Hawarden, died in the comfort of his family on Monday, April 21, 2008 at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Sioux City.
Steven Paul Baker was born Feb. 2, 1956 in Le Mars, the son of Warren and Marvis (Rexroat) Baker. He graduated from West Sioux High School in 1974 and attended Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon.
He married Deborah Maatman on July 12, 1986 at Sioux Center. Together they made their home in Hawarden. Steven farmed in the Hawarden area. Deborah died on Aug. 5, 1999.
Steven was a devoted father, beloved brother, and a nurturing uncle. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, traveling, motorcycling, and raising his two sons. He could also be found swimming and going to auctions looking for antiques.
Steven is survived by his sons, Sam and Dale; his siblings, Joan Hayes and her husband Grant of Warner Robins, Ga., Dan Baker and his wife Debbie of Ireton, and Kristy Dullard and her husband Dan of Milton, Wis.; and his many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; and a brother, David.
This amazing man will be deeply missed by his sons, family, and many friends.
Visitation will begin at noon on Friday with the family present from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden.
