Bonnie Von Hagel, 81, of Akron died Tuesday, June 19, 2007, at Akron Care Center.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A., in Akron. Burial will be at a later date in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Thursday, with the family present after 6 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Carlsen Funeral Home - Schroeder Chapel in Akron.

Bonnie Von Hagel, 81, of Akron, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at the Akron Care Center

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 22, 2007 at Trinity Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A. in Akron, Iowa. Reverend Jean Morse will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Riverside Cemetery in Akron. Visitation will be after 3:00 p.m. Thursday, June 21, 2007 with the family present after 6:00 p.m., and a Prayer service at 7:00 p.m., all at Carlsen Funeral Home – Schroeder Chapel in Akron.

Susanna Lavonne “Bonnie” Hill was born April 14, 1926 in Le Mars, Iowa, the daughter of John W.L. and Treasa A. Francis (Hoefer) Hill. The family moved to Hawarden, Iowa, where Bonnie received her education. She lived in California for a period of time during WW II. There she was employed by McDonnell-Douglass. She was united in marriage to Wayne Arnold Von Hagel on July 15, 1946 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron. The couple lived in Sioux City and Akron before moving to Battle Lake, Minnesota in 1973. They ran Bonnie Beach Resort on Lake Clitherall, and later Bonnie was employed by the Battle Lake School District. She served as head cook for 14 years. Wayne and Bonnie retired and returned to Akron in 1991. Wayne passed away February 27, 1996.

Bonnie was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron. She loved crocheting, cooking, fishing, and watching birds. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her 3 sons and their wives: Wayne “Herk” and Pam of Akron, Donald and Pat of Enid, Oklahoma, and Charles and Diane of Akron; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; 2 sisters: Elizabeth Dierks of Reedsport, Oregon, and Patricia Kaskie of Hawarden, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wayne; 3 brothers: John Hill, James Hill, and William Hill; 4 sisters: Matie Reinking, Mary White, Rose Huebner, and Geri Koopsma; and a daughter, Susan Terrell.
