John E. Robinson, 95, of Kingsley, died Sunday, July 8, 2007, at the Kingsley Nursing and Rehab Center.

John Elvin Robinson was born Aug. 14, 1911, at Moville, the son of William and Ellen (Long) Robinson. He was raised in the Moville area and graduated from Moville High School. Following his education John began his lifelong career in sheep shearing. He also worked for various area farmers and at a local meat packing plant.

On Oct. 11, 1937, John and Lenore Riser were united in marriage at Kingsley. The couple made their home in Kingsley. John served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He returned to Kingsley following his honorable discharge. John returned to shearing sheep and continued this until he was 75 years of age. During his retirement years, John and Lenore enjoyed traveling and wintering in Florida. Lenore died Sept. 17, 1998.

John was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Kingsley. He was also a Fourth Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus. John was a member of Nash American Legion Post #140 in Kingsley. He was an avid fisherman and a handyman.

He will be lovingly remembered by his son Tom and his wife Beth of Apple Valley, Minn.; three grandsons and their families, David and Nancy Robinson of Plymouth, Minn., Tim and Karin Robinson, Josh, Erik and Kristin Robinson of Savage, Minn., and Andy and Shannon Robinson, Rachel, Ben and Grace Robinson of Lakeville, Minn.; a sister-in-law Lois Haines of Garland, Texas; and a brother-in-law George Beck of Lake City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Lenore; and his siblings Ellen, Vina, Louis, Mort, Lester, Irene, Geneva, Melvin and William.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Kingsley. The Rev. Mark Stoll will officiate. Burial will follow at the parish cemetery. Military honors will be provided by Nash American Legion Post #140 of Kingsley. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Rohde - Earnest Funeral Home in Kingsley. The Knights of Columbus will lead a Fourth Degree Rosary Service at 4 p.m. with a Scriptural prayer service at 7 p.m. followed by a Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree Chalice Presentation. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to Mass.
