Joseph Rohmiller, 78, of Le Mars, died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2007, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.
Funeral arrangements are pending with the Carlsen Funeral Home of Le Mars.

Joseph L. Rohmiller, 77, of Le Mars passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 15, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Le Mars with Father Kevin Richter officiating. Interment will follow Mass in Calvary Cemetery, Sioux City, Iowa. Visitations will be after 3:00 p.m. Friday, September 14, 2007 at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars with a Parish Rosary at 4:00 p.m. followed by a 7:00 p.m. Scriptural Wake Service at the funeral home. Visitations will continue Saturday morning at the church from 9:00 a.m. until service time.
Joseph Lyle Rohmiller was born September 14, 1929 at Mapleton, Iowa to Fred and Helen (Brummer) Rohmiller. Joe was raised in the Mapleton, Iowa area where he also attended school. Joe was united in marriage to Louise Turman on May 11, 1950 in Sioux City, Iowa. He served his country in the United States Army February of 1952 until his Honorable Discharge in July of 1954. Following his discharge from the service, Joe returned to Sioux City where he worked at the Sioux City Stock Yards for 10 years. In the early 1960’s Joe and Louise farmed in Lincoln Township for many years. In 1975, they purchased a farm in America Township where they farmed and raised hogs and cattle. Joe and Louise celebrated 50 years of marriage in May of 2000. She passed away in March of 2001.
Joe always took great pride in his farm. He was very meticulous from planting to harvesting. He loved to raise horses. In his 50’s, Joe learned how to rope cattle. He and Father George even ventured in owning a few racehorses.
Survivors include his 4 children: Clayton Rohmiller of Merrill, Iowa, Scott Rohmiller, Pam Rohmiller, and Laurie and her husband Dave Lamb all of Le Mars; 10 grandchildren: Kelli, Kim, Neil, Anna, Albert, Daisy, Marcy, Janet, Dory, and Sara Rohmiller; a great granddaughter, Bailey Hart; 2 brothers: Lloyd Rohmiller and his wife Lois of Sioux City, Iowa and Ron “John” Rohmiller and his wife Mary of California; 3 sisters: Elaine Rickert of Denison, Iowa, Marcele Munson of Sioux City, IA, and Noreen Schmidt and her husband Dick of Sioux City, IA; and a very special friend, Roxanne Johns of Merrill and several nieces and nephews.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Helen (Brummer) Rohmiller; his wife, Louise in May of 2001; a son, Robert in 1988; a daughter, Betty Lou in infancy; a granddaughter, Katie Marie Rohmiller in 2005; 5 brothers and sisters: Bernard Rohmiller, Gerald “Ton” Rohmiller, Pat Bohlman, Darleen Nolen, and Gertrude Swanger.
