Dale E. Schultz, 86, of Rapid City, S.D., died at the Rapid City Regional Hospital Sunday, October 28, 2007.

Dale was born March 18, 1921 in Plymouth County Iowa, the soon of Frank and Luella (Mead) Schultz. He graduated from Le Mars High School at Le Mars in 1939. He enlisted in the Navy, serving from June 10, 1942 until Oct. 19, 1945. He was honorably discharged at Lido Beach, Long Island, New York. He married Delores Heidbrink on Jan. 14, 1945. He had six brothers and sisters. Dale enjoyed watching all sports, hunting, and deep sea fishing. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Delores Schultz, Rapid City, three sons, Eugene Schultz and his wife Karol, Bakersfield, Calif., Dan Schultz and his wife Jackie, Bakersfield, Calif., and Wayne Schultz, Philip, S.D., two daughters, Marilynn Englebrecht and her husband Dr. James Englebrecht, Rapid City, and Linda Meakin and her husband Dick, Sutter, Calif.; eleven grandchildren, John Englebrecht and his wife Tiffany, Iowa City, Dr. Jennifer Kruger and her husband Kevin, Iowa City, Stephanie Figge and her husband Mike, Arden Hills, Minn., Ashley and Peter Schultz, both of Bakersfield, Calif., Claire Schultz, Greeley, Colo., Stacey Meakin, San Jose, Calif., Megan Schultz, San Francisco, Calif., Sarah Schultz, Sacramento, Calif., Darla Meakin, Yuba City, Calif., and David Meakin, Oroville, Calif.; and five great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 31, at the Osheim-Catron Funeral Home in Rapid City.

Services will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 1, at the South Canyon Lutheran Church with the Rev. Bruce Thalacker officiating.

Interment, with military honors provided by the Rushmore VFW Post 1273 Honor Guard, will be at the Black Hills National Cemetery.

A memorial has been established.
