Mayme B. Hobbs, 94, of Kingsley, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2007, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.
Mayme Bernice Hobbs was born Aug. 20, 1913, at Correctionville, the daughter of James Henry and Lottie (Pierce) Beeson. She graduated from Correctionville High School. Following her education she taught in country schools near Correctionville.
On Aug. 3, 1932, Mayme and Lowell L. Hobbs were united in marriage. The couple made their home in Moville where Mayme stayed at home to raise their family. During their retirement years, Mayme and Lowell traveled throughout the United States, wintering in Arizona, California and Texas. They moved to Kingsley in 1995. Lowell died on Aug. 30, 1999. Mayme remained in Kingsley and was a member of the Kingsley United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Many will remember how much Mayme loved to shop.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Diane Caldwell and her husband Howard of Kingsley; a son Dennis Hobbs of Austin, Texas; grandchildren and great-grandchildren Heather and Ron Waldrop and their children Jordan, Austin and Peyton of Naples, Fla., Ryan and Katie Hobbs of Austin, Texas, Michael and Trina Caldwell and their children Hayley and Corri of Fairbanks, Alaska, Kelly and Arthur Delaune and their children Thomas, Chelsea, Eric, KC, and Kevin of Fairbanks, Alaska, Shawn Caldwell of Portland, Ore., Travis and Julie Andersen and their children Nick and Kevin of Phoenix, Ariz., Troy and Liliana Andersen and their son Jakob of Phoenix, Ariz.; and a sister Opal Bremer of Holstein.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lowell; daughter Dawn Andersen; sisters Ella Thompson and Lenore Murphy; brothers Lewis, Ray and Harold.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. today (Monday) at the Kingsley United Methodist Church. Rev. Roger Kurtenbach will officiate. Burial will follow at Arlington Township Cemetery, Moville. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Monday at the Kingsley United Methodist Church. The Rohde-Earnest Funeral Home of Kingsley was in charge of arrangements.
