Jennie "Jeannine" Dreckman, 75, of Le Mars, died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007, at the Orange City Hospital.

Jennie "Jeannine" Marie Dreckman was born Dec. 24, 1931, in Le Mars, the daughter of Ray and Mary (Balster) Lauters. Jeannine was raised on a farm in the Remsen and Marcus area. She attended country school and graduated from Holy Name Catholic High School in 1949. She attended and graduated from nursing school at St. Joseph Hospital in Sioux City in 1953. Jeannine was united in marriage to Carl John Dreckman on Aug. 25, 1953, at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus.

She had worked at Sacred Heart Hospital (Floyd Valley Hospital), Brentwood Nursing Home, and for several years as the director of nursing at Plymouth Life. Her nursing career spanned more than 50 years. Nursing was her passion, she dedicated her life to the care of others.

Jeannine enjoyed her children and in later years enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing bingo with her friends and family. Jeannine was known as "mom" to family and many of friends also thought of her as "mom."

Jeannine was a member of St. James Catholic Church.

Survivors include her five children: Ray Dreckman and his wife Rosanne of Brandon, S.D., and their family Rhonda (Cory) Begley, Kyle and Brenda Dreckman; Beth Durr and her husband Rod of Le Mars and their family Chris Durr and Missy (Tim) Muciiri; Allan "Red" Dreckman and his wife Denise of Remsen and their family Jason (Kris) Dreckman, Johnny Dreckman and Nikki Dreckman; Keith Dreckman and his friend Jim Briggs of Carroll; and Carla Hentges and her husband Mark of Le Mars and their family Angela (Josh) Hutton, Eric, Tammi, and Tiffany Hentges; a daughter-in-law Karen Steffen and her husband Bill and their family, Chad Dreckman and Mandi Dreckman and Shonden (Chris) Frederes and their family Ashton, Brooklyn and Peyton Frederes; two sisters: Audrey and Tony Delperdang of Remsen and Marlene and Jim Boyle of Danbury; five brothers: Pete and Rosie Lauters of Marcus, Bob and Barb Lauters of Dodge City, Kan., Dan and LuAnn Lauters of Garner, Larry and Sue Lauters of Runnells, and Doug and Heidi Lauters of Elgin; and many nieces and nephews.

Jeannine was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Mary (Balster) Lauters; her husband Carl in 1971; a son Chuck in 1984; a son Jeffrey in infancy; and a twin brother Jim Lauters in infancy.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. James Catholic Church with the Rev. James Tigges officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitations will be after 3 p.m. today (Friday) t St. James Catholic Church with a 4 p.m. parish rosary followed by a 7 p.m. Scriptural wake service. The Carlsen Funeral Home of Le Mars is assisting the family with arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Jason Dreckman, Johnny Dreckman, Kyle Dreckman, Chad Dreckman, Chris Durr, and Eric Hentges. Honorary casketbearers will be Timothy Muciiri, Josh Hutton, Cory Begley, and Chris Frederes.
