GRANVILLE, Iowa -- Mary Ellen Stoll, 63, of Granville died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center--Sioux City.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Granville, with the Revs. Richard D. Ball and Mark Stoll officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Granville. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Wednesday, with a rosary at 5 p.m. by St. Joseph Guild and Ladies Catholic Order of Foresters and a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen, Iowa.

Mary Ellen was born July 27, 1944, in Le Mars, Iowa, the daughter of Norbert and Phyllis (Christoffel) Colling. She was raised in the Granville area and received her education at St. Joseph Catholic School in Granville, where she graduated in 1962. She worked as a nanny for the Matt family in Spencer, Iowa.

On Nov. 11, 1967, she married Vincent Stoll in Granville. They made their home near Granville where they farmed.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Joseph Guild and church decorating committee and Ladies Catholic Order of Foresters, of which she was currently president.

Her many hobbies included photographing nature, crocheting, cake decorating, making corn husk flowers and searching flea markets and antique stores for strawberry decorations. She took great joy in being a grandmother and left her grandchildren with many wonderful memories of their times together.

Survivors include her husband, Vincent of Granville; five children and five grandchildren, Tom and his wife, Rebecca, and their children, Paige and Neal, of West Des Moines, Iowa, Peggy and her husband, Mike Koch, of Cumming, Iowa, Lyle and his wife, Christi, and their children, Andy, Sydney and Colby, of Chippewa Falls, Wis., Gary and his wife, Jill, of Johnston, Iowa, and Matt Stoll of Sheldon, Iowa; three sisters and their husbands, Pat and Kenny Stringer of Geneseo, Ill., and Marla and Bill Floyd and Jo Ann and Richard Getzschman, all of Omaha, Neb.; and a brother, Larry and his wife, Patty Colling, of Kansas City, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Carol Colling.
