Ronald Howe, 52, of rural Hinton, died suddenly and unexpectedly on Tuesday, Jan, 1, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.

Ronald Scott Howe was born Oct. 31, 1955, in Dubuque, the son of Lloyd George and Mavis Anne (Nuessle) Howe. When Ron was an infant his family moved to Hinton where Ron was raised and educated. Following school he moved to Kansas and worked in the wheat fields. In March of 1974 Ron returned to the Hinton area and went to work for Reliable Auto Parts in Sioux City.

On June 14, 1975 Ron and Christine Berg were united in marriage at Onawa. The couple made their home on a farm near Hinton. For the past 17 years Ron was employed with Sapp Bros. Petroleum (formerly Smith Oil Co.) as a fuel truck driver.

Ron has always been a cowboy at heart. He was a member of the 4-H Horse Board and often served as Ring Steward at 4-H horse shows. He cherished the time he spent helping children with horses, especially his own kids. Ron was also an avid race fan and collector. He enjoyed his travels to Colorado and Texas and also enjoyed photography.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Chris of rural Hinton; four children, Nathan (Fiancé Autumn) of Denver, Colo., Matthew (Jennifer) of Maryville, Mo., Allyson and Joshua at home; sisters Kathleen (the late Philip) Baker of Noblesville, Ind., Hollie (Danny) Cummins of Copperas Cove, Texas and Lisa (Paul) Simister of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Grace Evangelical Church in Hinton. The Rev. David Steinbron will officiate. Burial will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural Hinton. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today (Friday) at the Mauer - Johnson Funeral Home of Le Mars. The family will be present from 5 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Hats, jeans and boots are welcome. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the funeral.
