WILLIAM A. KARLEY
DEAD AT AGE OF 93;
RITES SET WEDNESDAY

William Albert Karley, Merrill’s oldest citizen and lifelong resident of the community, died Sunday at the age of 93.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. John's American Lutheran Church in Merrill. Rev. Kenneth Hodum will officiate. Burial will be in the Merrill Hillside Cemetery under the direction of Luken’s funeral home.

Mr. Karley was born Sept. 18, 1869, at Merrill. His marriage to Emma Kress took place Dec. 15, 1898, at Sioux City. A retired farmer, Mr. Karley had suffered ill health the last two years.

Surviving are a daughter and two sons, Mrs. Carrie Swisher of Merrill, Elmer and Walter, both of Sioux City; 19 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren and a great great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, who died in 1944.
