Emil Bruscher, 88, of Le Mars, died early today (Tuesday), Oct. 31, 2000, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Oyens, with burial in the parish cemetery. Friends may call anytime after 2 p.m. Thursday at the Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars. There will be a scriptural wake service at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

LE MARS, Iowa – Emil A. Bruscher, 88, of Le Mars, died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Oyens, Iowa, with the Rev. Randy Schon officiating. Burial will be in St. Catherine’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Thursday, with a Scriptural wake service at 7:30 p.m. at Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars.
Mr. Bruscher was born Aug. 24, 1912, near Oyens, the son of John and Margaret (Schroeder) Bruscher. He was raised near Oyens and attended St. Catherine’s Parochial School.
He married Gladys Hodge on Jan. 2, 1934, in Oyens. The couple farmed for eight years in Marion Township near Oyens. In 1942, they moved to Sioux City, where he worked in construction for many years, until retiring in 1975. In 1978, they moved to Salix, Iowa. His wife died April 20, 1989. For the last several years, he has been a resident of The Abbey in Le Mars.
Survivors include three sons and their wives, Emil Jr. and Marilyn of Sioux Falls, S.D., David Robert and Barbara of Arthur, Iowa, and Dennis O. and Geraldine of Stone Lake, Wis.; 19 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Justine Eufers of Le Mars; a sister-in-law, Edna Bruscher of Le Mars; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Raymond; three grandchildren; a brother, Matt; and four sisters, Anna DeBlauw, Margaret Graser, Helen Flynn and Viola Kennedy.
Paulbearers will be Dean, Dan, Dale, Dennis, Randy and Kevin Bruscher.
