BRUNO BRUNKEN

Bruno D. Brunken, 80, of Struble, died Wednesday (Dec. 29, 1982) while shoveling snow at his home. He had lived at Struble 40 years.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Christ Lutheran Church in Grant Township. Rev. Jack Hebard will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Johnson-Luken Funeral Home in LeMars.

Mr. Brunken was born Oct. 31, 1902, at Elgin Township, Plymouth County, to Brunke B. and Olina Dirks Brunken.

He was baptized Nov. 23, 1902, and confirmed April 1, 1917, at Christ Lutheran Church.

He married Margaret Lubben June 27, 1926, at Christ Lutheran Church. He farmed in the area until 1941 when he moved to Struble and worked for the Great-Northern Railroad for 25 years, retiring in 1966. He served as mayor of Struble for many years while working with his brother, Clarence, as a carpenter.

Survivors are his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Ruth Jurgenson of LeMars; one son, Herbert of Collinsville, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Rieka Renken and Mrs. Etta Johnson, both of LeMars; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Herman and Fred Brunken and Rank and John Oetken, and a great granddaughter, Jill Jurgenson.
