DORA E. BROWN

HINTON, Iowa --- Dora E. (Stockburger) Brown, 96, of Hinton died Sunday, Dec. 31, 1995, at her home.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Hinton United Methodist Church with Rev. Sara Malone officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery in Sioux City. Visitation will be 3 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present 7 to 8:30 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City. There will be an Order of Eastern Star service by Azure Chapter 540 at 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Brown was born Sept. 22, 1899, in Aurelia, Iowa, the daughter of Harlie and Cathrine (Taggart) Stockburger. She moved to LeMars as a child with her family. She attended schools in LeMars and graduated with a normal teaching certificate. The family moved to Los Angeles, Calif. She married Clarence V. Brown of Hinton Feb. 11, 1920, in Los Angeles. They returned to Hinton to make their home. He was co-owner of Brown’s Ford Garage for 52 years. He died Sept. 10, 1984, in Sioux City.

Mrs. Brown was a member of Hinton United Methodist Church. She was a 75-year charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary (Casper Post); 70-year member of the Order of Eastern Star, Azure Chapter 540; Daughters of the Nile, Hathor Temple 38; Abu Bekr Shrine Temple Auxiliary and the Hinton Senior Citizens.

Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Dorothy and Virgil Newberg of Hinton and Karen and David Reinhart of Apple Valley, Minn.; two grandchildren, Karl and Jodi Preusser; three stepgrandchildren, Virgil Newberg Jr., Norman Newberg, and Beverly Albers; four step great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; three nieces; five nephews; and a sister-in-law, Ethel Stockburger.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Cecil Stockburger; two sisters, Ardis Corrington and Marvel Shepherd and three nephews.

Pallbearers will be Robert Bennett, Jr., Gary Shindel, Larry Bunch, Norman Newberg and Virgil Newberg Jr., and Dale Albers.
