LE MARS, Iowa -- Pauline Caroline Borchers, 99, of rural LeMars, died Tuesday, April 2, 1996, at her daughter’s home in rural LeMars.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Preston Township, rural Akron, with the Rev. Gene Eidsness officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with the family present 7 to 8 p.m., at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Borchers was born Dec. 21, 1896, in Plymouth County, the daughter of William and Cordelia (Schmidt) Barinsky. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She received her education in country schools in rural Plymouth County. On Nov. 1, 1917, she married Bernard “Ben” Borchers in Sioux City. The couple farmed in Johnson Township, rural Plymouth County until the mid 1960’s when they retired. Mr. Borchers died Oct. 25, 1974. She continued to live on the farm and for the last 1 ½ years, had lived with her daughters.
Mrs. Borchers was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and had been active in the women’s organizations.
Survivors include two daughters, Bernice Breitbarth of rural LeMars and Betty Wiliams and her husband, Johnnie H. of Omaha; four grandchildren, Barbara Gross, Greg Breitbarth, Megan Lostroh and Rhett Williams; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Clara Meyers and Ella Witt; three brothers, Charles, William and John Barinsky; and a son-in-law, Randall Breitbarth.
Pallbearers will be Greg Breitbarth, Rhett Williams, Todd Walker, Mark Barinsky, Jerome Haage and Gaylen Tapper.
