MIDRAL L. BLAIR

Midral L. Blair, 86, formerly of 1503 Lacy Blvd., died unexpectedly Wednesday, Jan. 10, 1996, at Casa De Paz.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel with the Rev. Laird R. Keever of Mayflower Congregational Church officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery with military rites by Post 1981 of the American Legion. Visitation will be 2 to 6 p.m. today, with the family present 4 to 6 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mr. Blair was born Nov. 16, 1909, in Kingsley, Iowa, the son of David and Anna (Milton) Blair. He moved to Sioux City as a child and attended Hunt Elementary, North Junior High School and Central High School. He married Ebba M. McClain July 25, 1940, in Sioux City. She died May 18, 1994, in Sioux City. Mr. Blair served with the United States Army in the European Theater from April 1943 to October 1945. He saw combat in Normandy, Northern France, and the Rhineland, and received the European-African Medal, Eastern Theater Service Medals and the Good Conduct Medal. He worked at Wells Dairy Inc. for 47 years, retiring in 1971 as a foreman.

Mr. Blair was a member of the Mayflower Congregational Church and was one of the first members of the Court Street Gang. He also belonged to various bowling teams and was an avid fisherman.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Delphene and Richard Tompkins; three grandsons, Brian, Joel and Marty Tompkins; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rose Davis of California, and Ithe Doran of Brookings, S.D.; a sister-in-law, Mrs. M.L. McCain of Sioux Falls, S.D.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Milton; and two sisters, Lillian Rhudd and Davina Chase.

Pallbearers will be Brian, Joel, Marty and Gary Tompkins, George Larvick and Larry Niegowski.
