Regina "Wee Wee" Garding
Regina Susan "Wee Wee" Garding, 86, of Struble, died Thursday, Nov. 25, 1999, at Plymouth Manor Care Center in LeMars.
Wee Wee was born April 1, 1913, at Struble, the daughter of John and Clara (Brandt) Garding. She was raised in Struble and graduated from LeMars Central High School. She continued her education at Western Union College in LeMars. She taught at a rural country school for three years. She then began her 50-year banking career at the Farmers Savings Bank in Struble, which was established by her father, John Garding.
Wee Wee was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church at Struble, and the Altar and Rosary Society.
Her hobbies included bowling, traveling with her friends and pheasant hunting with her nephews. She was instrumental in the organization and support of the Struble Canaries baseball team in Struble in the mid 1950's.
Survivors include her sister, Maxine M. Ohm of Struble; nieces, Sharon and her husband, Paul Harrington of Sacramento, Calif., Cathy and her husband, Jim Geyerman of South Padre, Texas, Nancy Ohm of Chicago, Ill., Susan and her husband, Steve Watson, of Cloverdale, Calif.; nephews, Gary Ohm and his wife, Mary, of Orange City, Gene Ohm and his wife, Betty, of Sioux City, John Garding and his wife, Donna, of Burbank, Calif., Neil "Justin" Ohm of Phoenix, Ariz., Steve Ohm and his wife, Jody, of LeMars, and Jim Ohm and his wife, Chris, of Las Vegas, Nev.; and numerous great and grand nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Lloyd Garding; a brother-in-law, Howard Ohm; and two nephews, Chuck and Michael Ohm.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Struble with the Rev. Terry Roder officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call anytime after 3 p.m. Sunday at the Feuerstein Funeral Home in LeMars. There will be a rosary by the Altar Society at 4 p.m. and a Scriptural wake service at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
