Phyllis Small, 82, of Akron, died Tuesday, June 7, 2005, at the Akron Care Center in Akron.
Phyllis Minnie Elizabeth Small was born July 27, 1922, on the family farm in Grant Township, near Brunsville, the daughter of George F. and Anna Elizabeth (Marienau) Albright. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Brunsville. She attended country school in Grant Township. She was united in marriage to Ivyl Small on Jan. 18, 1944, at her parents' home near Brunsville. Following Ivyl's return from World War II, they moved to Akron. Together, they were the parents of two daughters, Diane and Teresa and a son, Dennis. Phyllis worked at the Akron Hospital and later for the Akron Care Center until retiring to care for her husband. Ivyl died Dec. 8, 2002. Most recently, she was a resident of the Akron Care Center.
She was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them whenever she could.
Survivors include her two daughters, Diane Knapp and her husband, Stan of Lincoln, Neb., and Teresa Small of Minnetonka, Minn.; four grandchildren: Mitch Knapp and his wife, Kenna Hauber, Maggie Hoff and her husband, Scott, Heather Small and Tiffany Brandt; three great-grandchildren, Cole Brandt, Ashley Brandt, and Paige Hoff; a sister: Marilyn Wheeldon; a brother, Marlin Albright and his wife Carol; sisters-in-laws and brothers-in-laws, Reva Albright, Vernice Blum, Ramona Govig, Kenneth and Evelyn Small, Jo Small, James and Edith Small, Gayland and Selma Small, Clayton and Marilyn Small, Roscoe and Evelyn Small, Clinton and Kathleen Small, and Fay and Burma Small; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Dennis; three brothers, William, Art, and Virgil; and two brothers-in-laws, Eldon Small and Cliff Wheeldon.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A. in Akron with the Rev. Jean Morse officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery in Akron. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. with the family present from 4 to 6 p.m., all at the Carlsen Funeral Home - Schroeder Chapel in Akron. Casketbearers will be Mitch Knapp, Kenna Hauber, Maggie Hoff, Scott Hoff, Heather Small and Tiffany Brandt.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A., in Akron, with the Rev. Jean Morse officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 6 p.m. today, with the family present 4 to 6 p.m., at Carlsen Funeral Home -- Schroeder Chapel in Akron.
