Merrill, Iowa – E. Dean Miller, 65, of rural Waterbury, Nebraska, formerly of Merrill, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2007 at his home near Waterbury. A Celebration of Life Service will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2007 at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars, Iowa. Rev. Larry Fett of Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars will officiate. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday with the family present beginning at 4:00 p.m.
Ernest Dean Miller was born on July 8, 1941 in Ponca City, Oklahoma, the son of William and Arlene (Frerichs) Miller. He moved with his family at an early age to a farm south of Le Mars. Dean was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Hinton, Iowa. He graduated from Le Mars High School in 1959. He served with the Iowa Army National Guard and later farmed in the area for several years.
Dean married Jane Gabel of Le Mars in 1960. Three sons were born to this union. In 2000 he married Radoslava “Roddy” Sharkova of Bulgaria.
He is survived by his three sons; Jeff (Brenda) Miller of Hinton, IA, Doug (Kathy) Miller of Hornick, IA, and Justin (Daphne) Miller of Hinton, IA; seven grandchildren Casey, Mariah, Kourtney, Taylor, Leah, Tiffany and Travis Miller; his mother Arlene Blom of Le Mars; a brother Ronald (Bette) Miller of Merrill, IA; a sister Pam McVeigh of Monroe, LA; and a sister-in-law Judy Miller of Le Mars.
He was preceded in death by his father; and two brothers Larry and Bill Miller.
