Adam S. McNamara
ORANGE CITY – Adam McNamara, 17, of Orange City, died Tuesday, April 29, 1997, at the Orange City Municipal hospital of complication from Duchenne’s Muscular Dystrophy.
Adam Stephen McNamara was born Aug. 1, 1979, at LeMars. He lived in LeMars, Remsen and Orange City. He was currently an honor student in the senior class at the MOC-Floyd Valley High School in Orange City, where he would have graduated in June.
He had been the Muscular Dystrophy Poster Child in northwest Iowa for four years and in South Dakota one year. He had attended Muscular Dystrophy camp since the age of six.
Adam enjoyed operating computers.
Survivors include his parents, Diana Marie (Nichols) and Stephen Vincent McNamara, of Orange City; a brother, Cory Morgan McNamara, at home; his grandparents, Jack and Rita Nichols of LeMars, Joan McNamara of Hartford, S.D., and Albert and Leona Thorpe of LeMars; several uncles and aunts and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by a grandfather, Howard Wllsworth McNamara.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Van Etten-Oolman-VanGelder Funeral Home in Orange City, with the Rev. Larry Fett of Grace Lutheran church in LeMars, officiating. Burial will be at the David City, Neb., cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today (Thursday), with the family present from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The Van Etten-Oolman-VanGelder funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
