Funeral Tuesday for retired public health nurse
Mary Luella Taylor, 66, longtime LeMars and Merrill are resident, died Saturday (Jan. 14, 1989) at St. Joseph Hospital, Witchita, Kan. Mrs. Taylor was visiting her daughter and family when she became ill. She was a retired public health nurse in Plymouth County.
Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in LeMars with the Rev. Robert Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery at Adaville, rural Merrill, under direction of the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home.
Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with an Order of Eastern Star service at 7:30 p.m.
The former Mary Luella Rogers, she was born Dec. 28, 1922, at Maxwell, Iowa, to William and Irma Barnard Rogers. She married Wesley R. Taylor Dec. 19, 1947, at Miami, Fla. Mr. Taylor died April 19, 1969.
A registered nurse, Mrs. Taylor was appointed in 1970 as the first Plymouth County public health nurse. She served in that capacity until 1985 when she retired.
She was a longtime Merrill and LeMars resident and a member of First United Methodist Church and the Order of Eastern Star. She was a member of the Plymouth County Board of Health.
Survivors are a son, Robert W. Taylor of Oak Park, Ill; a daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Patricia) DeWitt of Wichita; seven grandchildren; a brother, George Rogers of Rochester, N.Y.; three sisters, Mrs. Sam (Edna) McCoy of Bend, Ore.; Mrs. George (Vi) Borton of Xearing, Iowa, and Mrs. Del (Mildred) Egli of Oak Forest, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
