FORMER RESIDENT HERE TAKEN BY DEATH
Funeral services for A.J. Dixon, 80, of Leeds, and a former resident of this community, who died Wednesday in a Sioux City hospital, will be held at 9 a.m. on Friday of this week at St. Michael’s Catholic church in Leeds. Father F. H. Greteman will officiate and burial will be in St. Columbia Cemetery at Iona, Minn.
Mr. Dixon was born May 2, 1867, in Green County, Wis., and married Martha Arrowsmith June 27, 1894, at Pipestone, Minn. In 1916 they moved to Avoca, Minn., and to Iona in 1917, and in 1923 they located on a farm 2 miles north of Hinton. More than 15 years ago they retired from farming. Mrs. Dixon passed away here in 1938.
Mr. Dixon had many friends in this community who mourn his passing.
Survivors include seven sons: Frank of Aurora, Ill.; Thomas of LeMars; Arthur and William of Hinton; Vincent and John of Sioux City; and Joseph, of Sturgis, S.D.; four daughters, Mrs. Laura Gerard and Mrs. Myrtle Bolen, of Los Angeles, Mrs. Gladys Rush of Merrill, and Mrs. Mary Reiman of Iona; two sisters, Julia Arrowsmith and Miss Annie, both of Pipestone; a brother, Mort, also of Pipestone, and 19 grandchildren.
