Thomas Jay Dull
LEMARS, Iowa – Thomas Jay Dull, 39, of Chula Vista, Calif. and formerly of LeMars, died Tuesday shortly after arrival at a LeMars hospital after being stricken at his mother’s home.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars. The Rev. Dale George and the Rev. Robert Grupp will officiate. Visitation is today at the funeral home. Military services and burial in San Diego are pending.
Mr. Dull was born Feb. 8, 1947, in Iowa City. He came to LeMars as a young child and graduated from Gehlen High School in 1965. He enlisted in the U. S. Navy in May of 1966. He married Lynn Shealy on Feb. 24, 1978.
He was a Master chief stationed with the Pacific Fleet based in San Diego and was the recipient of the Meritorious Unit Commendation. He was also awarded the National Defense Service, Viet Nam Service, Viet Nam Campaign, and the navy Achievement Medals.
Survivors include his wife; twin daughters, Charmaine L. and Courtney I., both at home; his mother, Mrs. Bonnie Dull of LeMars; five brothers, his twin, Jim of Lake Forest, Ill., Mark of Maulelle, Fla., Bill and Don, both of Gainesville, Fla., and Dan of LeMars; three sisters, Paula Scott of Little Rock Ark., Mrs. John (Margaret) Britton of LeMars, and Mrs. Richard (Beverly) Burik of Atlanta, Ga.
