Services Thursday for longtime teacher
Bernice J. Taylor, 69, of LeMars, died Monday, May 24, 1993, at Marian Health Center, Sioux City after a short illness.
Mrs. Taylor, the former Bernice Acord, was born Aug. 3, 1923, at Farragut, the daughter of Rufus and Bessie (Howard) Acord. She attended Peru State College in Nebraska. She then moved to Merrill where she was a teacher. She taught for many years at Merrill and LeMars Community Schools. After her retirement, she served as a member of the LeMars Community School Board. She had made her home in LeMars for the last several years.
Survivors include two sons, Steve Taylor and his wife, Sally, of Victorville, Calif., and Jim Taylor and his friend, Patty, of Lincoln, Neb.; two daughters, Toni Shook and her husband, Mark, of Sioux City and Kathy Paul and her husband Bill of Barneston, Neb.; three sisters, Thelma Horstman of Las Vegas, Nev., and Ruby Brown and Mary Acord, both of Bakersfield, Calif.; and a brother, Howard, of Alhambra, Calif.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Feuerstein Funeral Home in LeMars with Rev. Lynn Potter officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. Thursday until service time at the funeral home.
