John Hummel Rites Set Wednesday

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Westfield Congregational church for John William Hummel, 84, who died Sunday, April I, in a Sioux City hospital after an illness of five years. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at Sioux City. Masonic rites will be held at the graveside.

Mr. Hummel was born born June 18, 1871, on a farm near Jefferson, S. D. He lived at Jefferson until he was 27 years of age, in and near Westfield for 37 years and in Sioux City tor 20 years. He was a mall carrier at Westfield for 10 years, and was employed at the Wincharger corporation in Sioux City for 15 years. He was married at Elk Point, S. D.. Feb. 21. 1899. to Mattie Bourret who died April 1, 1906.

He married Josie Olson June 28, 1922, at Dakota City, Neb.

Survivors arc the widow; a son, Albert, of Westfield; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Stallie Mae Beaubien and Mrs. Elaine Michael, both of Westfield; a stepson, Raymond H. Olson of Sioux City; three brothers, Thomas of Jefferson, S. D., George of Westfield and Fred of Elk Point; three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Skog of Crosby, Minn.; Mrs. Lena Campbell, and Mrs. Ida Morehead, both of Sioux City.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Westfield, Ia., Congregational church for John William Hummel, 84, who died Sunday in a Sioux City hospital after a sickness of five years.
Rev. A. W. Walker officiated. Burial was in Memorial park cemetery at Sioux City, under the direction of the Rossow funeral home of Akron. Masonic rites were held at the graveside.

Mr. Hummel was born June 18, 1871, on a farm near Jefferson, S.D. He lived at Jefferson until he was 27 years of age, in and near Westfield for 37 years and in Sioux City for 15 years.

He was married at Elk Point, S. D. February 24, 1899, to Mattie Bourett who died April 1, 1906. He married Josie Olson June 28, 1922, at Dakota City, Neb.

Survivors are the widow: a son, Albert, of Westfield; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Stalle Mae Beaubien and Mrs. Elaine Michael, both of Westfield; a stepson, Raymond H. Olson of Sioux City; three brothers, Thomas Hummel of Jefferson, S.D. George Hummel of Elk Point; three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Skog of Crosby, Minn.; Mrs. Lena Campbell, and Mrs. Ida Morehead, both of Sioux City.
