Leo Gabel
Leo Gabel, 84, Bath, S.D., died at St. Luke’s hospital, Aberdeen, Saturday, Aug. 24, 1974, after a short illness.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Aug. 27 at the Huebl funeral chapel with Rev. John Maines officiating. Burial was in the Bath, S. D., cemetery.
Leo Gabel was born in Plymouth county near Akron, Sept. 30, 1889. He married Theodocia Crow at Chatsworth, July 17, 1912.
They farmed in Iowa until 1914 when they homesteaded in Montana. In 1917 they moved to Bison, in 1922 they moved to a farm near Bath, and in 1955 they moved into Bath following retirement.
Survivors are his wife, as resident of the Colonial Manor in Groton, three sons, three daughters, 28 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Mary Bohlken, Long Beach, Calif.
He was preceded in death by one son, six brothers and two sisters.
Those attending the funeral from this area were: Mr. and Mrs. James Gabel, and Eldon of Akron, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Atkinson, Merrill, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Gabel and Mrs. Loris Gabel of LeMars.
