Phyllis Burkett Bull
Phyllis Ann Bull, 62 who lived at 4827 S. Sixth Street, Abilene, Tex., died Monday (March 5, 1990) at an Abilene Hospital after a lengthily illness of lupus with related disorders. She was the former Phyllis Burkett a former longtime LeMars resident.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. March 8, 1990 at First Baptist Church in Abilene with Dr. Bill Bruster and Sue Rowlett officiating. Private graveside services were held in Midway Cemetery in Abilene, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, Abilene.
Phyllis was born Sept. 14, 1927, in Sioux City to Lowell and Edith Gabel Burkett. She grew up in LeMars. The Burkett family left LeMars in 1937 and lived a year in Los Gatos, Calif., while Lowell Burkett was in the CCC. They moved to Omaha where they lived for seven years, moving back to LeMars when Phyllis was a senior in high school. She graduated with the LeMars High School class of 1944.
She graduated from Northwest Texas Hospital School of Nursing in Amarillo in 1948.
Her marriage to Eddie Bull took place June 4, 1948, in Temple, Tex.
Mrs. Bull was a registered nurse with Orthopedic Associates for 20 years, and Hendrick Medical Center for five years. From 1987-89, she was with the Hospice of Abilene as patient coordinator.
Mrs. Bull was an active member of Texas Nurses Association and American Nurses Association. serving on various committees and holding offices in local and state levels. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors are her husband, Eddie Bull of Abilene; a daughter, Shirley Hamilton of Austin; two sons, Eddie Bull Jr., Midland Tex., and John Bull of Abilene; her mother, Edith Burkett of Abilene; three brothers, Kenneth Burkett of St. Joseph. Mo. (whose wife is the former Sheila Duggan of LeMars); John Burkett of Alexandria, Va., and Terry Burkett of Austin; three sisters, Jeanne Olsen of Elk Point; Linda Smith of Athens, Ga., and Margery Barnhill of Abilene; a sister-in-law Alberta (Singer) Burkett of Anaheim, Calif., and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lowell and a brother, Gordon Burkett.
