Daryl Eugene Taylor, 67, of Akron, died Monday (Aug. 23, 1982) in a hospital at Rochester, Minn., after a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in St. Patrick’s Catholic church in Akron. Rev. William Carel of Hawarden will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic cemetery in Akron under the direction of the Schroeder funeral home of Akron.
The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
Mr. Taylor was born March 28, 1915, in Westfield township. He married Julia Welch July 2, 1939, in Akron. He lived on the original Taylor homestead all of his life and retired from farming three years ago but continued to own and operate a farm to market trucking business.
Mr. Taylor was a past president of the Akron Saddle club and Northwest Iowa Pony Chuckwagon association. He was an original member of the Akron Gun club and was a member of the American Black Angus association, White Park Cattle association and the American Buffalo association. He sponsored a bowling team for several years and served on the Akron Centennial committee until his illness.
He was a Catholic.
Survivors are his wife; five daughters, Mrs. Gary (Charylene) Banks of Colorado Springs, Colo., Mrs. Jerry (Jeanne) Parks of Bucklin, Mo., Mrs. Chris (Nancy) Nystrup and Mrs. Steve ( Lillian) Heeren, both of Akron, and Marjane Taylor of Palm Springs, Fla.; two brothers, Lowell and Harvey, both of Akron, and 10 grandchildren.
