Harvey S. Taylor
Harvey S. Taylor, 82, Akron native and lifelong resident, died Tuesday (May 8, 1990), at his home.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Plymouth Presbyterian Church, Rural Akron, with Rev. Hattie Duncan officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation began at 2 p.m. Friday with the family present from 7-8 p.m. at the Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.
He was born Sept. 14, 1907, near Akron, the son of Llewellyn and Katie McInnis Taylor. He was a lifelong area farmer.
On March 12, 1930, he married Anna Siebens in Akron. The couple operated Taylor Draperies for ten years and moved to Akron in 1952. Mrs. Taylor died April 9, 1976. He married Janet Adams Gabel Aug. 16, 1978 in the Little Brown Church at Nashua.
Mr. Taylor was a member of the Plymouth Presbyterian Church where he was an ordained elder. In 1976, he served as commissioner of the General Assembly of the United Presbyterian Church in USA. He was Westfield Township assessor for 40 years. He was a member of the Awkward Bowling Team for 30 years and sponsored the team the last several years.
Survivors are his wife; a son, Stanley of Akron; a daughter, Mrs. Don (Karen) Mortensen of Akron; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Jim (Janice) Down of Iowa City; a stepdaughter-in-law, Mrs. Glenda Gabel of Long Beach; Three grandchildren and eight stepgrandchildren. He was also preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

Harvey S. Taylor, 82, of Akron, Iowa died Tuesday, May 8, 1990, at his home.
Mr. Taylor was born September 14, 1907, near Akron, Iowa, the son of L. F. and Katie (McInnis) Taylor. He was a lifelong area farmer. He married Anna Siebens March 12, 1930. The couple moved to Akron in 1952 and from 1956 until Anna’s death April 9, 1976, they operated Taylor Draperies.
He married Janet Adams Gabel August 16, 1978, in the Little Brown Church at Nashua.
Mr. Taylor was a member of Plymouth Presbyterian Church where he was ordained elder in 1934.
