AKRON, Iowa – Minnie L. Gabel, 86, of Akron died Saturday in a hospital in Hawarden after a brief illness.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in St. John’s Lutheran Church, rural Akron. The Rev. Robert Kruempel will officiate. Burial will be in the Plymouth Presbyterian Cemetery, rural Akron. A prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m. today in the Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron,
Mrs. Gabel, the former Minnie L. Langelett, was born May 19, 1898, in Illinois. She married Ernest Gabel Oct. 2, 1923, in Sioux Falls, S.D. They lived in Minnesota and South Dakota before moving to Akron in 1923. He died April 2, 1940. She moved to LeMars in 1955, returned to Akron in 1975 and had lived at the Hillcrest Nursing Home in Hawarden since 1982.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Clarence (LaVonne) Rolfs of Utica, S.D.; three sons, Donald of Hawarden, Eldon and Virgil, both of Akron; one stepson, Raymond Gabel of Hawarden; two stepdaughters, Violet Sampson of Pleasantville and Faye Woods of Corvallis, Ore.; one brother Fred of Long Beach, Calif.; 16 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

Minnie L. Gabel, 86, Akron, died Saturday, Nov. 10, 1984 in the Hawarden Community hospital of a brief illness.
Mrs. Gabel, the former Minnie L. Langelett, was born May 19, 1898 in Illinois. She married Ernest Gabel October 2, 1923, in Sioux Falls, S.D. They lived in Minnesota and South Dakota before moving to the Akron Area in 1923. Mr. Gabel died April 2, 1940. She moved to LeMars in 1955, returned to Akron in 1975 and had lived at the Hillcrest Care Center in Hawarden since 1982.
Mrs. Gabel was a member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, one sister, a grandson and a stepson.
