Raymond W. Gabel
Raymond W. Gabel, 77, of Hawarden, died Saturday (June 25, 1988) at Morningside Manor Nursing Home at Alcester.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Nathaniel Lutheran Church at Alcester with Rev. Charles Peterson officiating. Burial will be in Grace Hill Cemetery. Visitation began at 10 a.m. Monday with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m., at Dow Funeral Home at Hawarden.
Mr. Gabel was born July 14, 1910, near Akron. He married Minnie F. Wilken Nov. 22, 1933, at Rural Akron. The couple made their home in the Akron area until moving to a farm near Alcester in 1946. In 1974, he retired from farming and they moved to Hawarden. Mrs. Gabel died Aug. 1, 1987.
Mr. Gabel was a longtime member of the Nathaniel Lutheran Church of Alcester.
Survivors are three sons, Leven of Merrimack, N.H., Wendell of Alcester and Melvin of Beresford; a daughter Elaine Schnose of Hartford, S.D.; two sisters, Violet Sampson of Pleasantville, Ia., and Faye Woods of Corvallis, Ore.; a half-sister, Lavon Rolfs of Utica, S.D.; three half-brothers, Donald of Hawarden and Eldon and Virgil of Akron; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother Roy.
