Minnie F. Gabel, 79, of Hawarden died Saturday (Aug. 1,1987) at a Sioux City hospital.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Nathanael Lutheran Church in Alcester. Rev. Jalmar Eldal will officiate. Burial will be in Grace Hill Cemetery. A prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday at the Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden.
Mrs. Gabel, the former Minnie Wilken, was born May 18, 1908, in Plymouth County. She married Raymond Gabel Nov. 22, 1933, near Akron. The couple lived in the Akron area before moving to a farm near Alcester in 1946. They retired and moved to Hawarden in 1974.
Mrs. Gabel was a member of Nathanael Lutheran Church in Alcester.
Survivors are her husband; three sons, Lavern of Merrimack, N.H., Wendell of Alcester and Melvin of Beresford, S.D.; a daughter, Mrs. LeRoy (Elaine) Schnose of Humboldt, S.D.; three sisters, Hannah Graz, Dena Jacobs and Frieda McAninch, all of LeMars; a brother, Arthur of Akron; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Minnie F. Gabel
Minnie F. Gabel, the daughter of Gehard T. and Meta Marksfield Wilken, was born in Plymouth County, Iowa near Akron on May 18,1908 and died on August 1, 1987 at the Marian Health Center at Sioux City at the age of 79 years.
On November 22, 1933 she was united in marriage to Raymond Gabel at St. John’s Lutheran Church near Akron. They made their home near Akron until moving to a farm near Alcester, South Dakota in 1946. In 1974 she moved to Hawarden. She was a member of the Nathanael Lutheran church of Alcester.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond; three sons, Lavern of Merrimack, New Hampshire, Wendell of Alcester, and Melvin of Beresford, South Dakota; one daughter, Mrs. LeRoy (Elaine) Schnose of Humbolt, South Dakota; three sisters, Hannah Grasz, Dena Jacobs and Frieda McAninch, all of LeMars, Iowa; one brother, Arthur Wilken of Akron; thirteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
