WESTFIELD, Iowa -- Stella Mae Beaubien, 87, of Westfield died Friday, June 13, 2003, at Akron, Iowa.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Westfield Congregational Church in Westfield, with the Rev. Steve Jewett officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Akron. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.
Stella Mae Olson was born Jan. 12, 1916, in Mount Vernon, S.D., to Josephine Olson. She attended Westfield schools and graduated from Westfield High School.
She married Philip E. Beaubien Jr. in Elk Point, S.D., in 1935. She lived in Sioux City, working as a beautician while her husband served in the U.S. Navy. After his discharge from the service the couple moved back to Westfield where Philip was engaged in trucking and Stella pursued her beauty career. Later they moved to a farm near Westfield. She operated a beauty shop in her home and on the farm.
Mrs. Beaubien was a member of Westfield Congregational Church. In her free time she loved to bowl and spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and teach them to play cards. She loved to spend time in her flower garden. She loved to sew and was quite an accomplished seamstress.
Survivors include two daughters, Marcine Smith and her husband, Daryl of Akron, and Dixie Beavers and her husband, Mike of Jefferson, S.D.; a sister, Elaine Michael and her husband, Robert of Akron; seven grandchildren, Tamra and her husband, Bill of Westfield, Micke and her husband, Ken of Sioux City, Jason Coy of Sergeant Bluff, Blane Smith and his friend, Cynthia Anderson of Westfield, Blair Smith and his wife, Robin of Westfield, Brock Smith of Akron, and Briggs and his wife, Kim of Akron; eight great-grandchildren, Lauren Coy, Kayla Smith, Mylee Smith, Kelsie Bride, Aaron Hummel, Jacob Bride, Danika Smith and Luke Hummel.
