Velda Muth

Velda Muth, 80, of rural Ireton died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 1993, at Floyd Valley Hospital in LeMars.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Plymouth Presbyterian Church of rural Akron, with the Rev. Hatty Duncan officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Ireton. Visitation will be 9 a.m. Thursday, with the family present at 7 p.m. and a prayer service at 8 p.m., at the Porter-Dow Funeral Home in Ireton.

Mrs. Muth was born August 21, 1912, near Ireton, the daughter of Edward and Lana (Belle) Benson. She graduated from Ireton High School and obtained her teaching certificate. She taught rural schools near Ireton until she married Clarence Muth in 1938. Together they lived near Ireton on a farm. He died Dec. 4, 1972.

Mrs. Muth was a member of the UPW of Plymouth Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include one son and his wife, Ronald and Miriam of Hawarden; one daughter and her husband, Kathleen and Roger Hawkins of LeMars; one brother, Howard Benson of Hawarden; a sister, Mrs. Lee (Mayona) Liston of Hawarden; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Ann Benson of Rock Rapids; and four grandchildren, Aaron and Nathan Muth, and Travis and Emily Hawkins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two brothers, Veryl and Orville Benson.
