Dorothy M. Cassidy

Dorothy Mae Cassidy, 84, of rural Remsen, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2001, at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen, following a brief illness.

The former Dorothy M. Bogh was born Aug. 28, 1917, in Fredonia Township, Plymouth County, the daughter of Marius and Anna (Schmidt) Bogh. She graduated from Remsen Public School and attended Iowa State Teachers College (now U.N.I.) at Cedar Falls. Dorothy taught rural school in the Remsen area, prior to her marriage.

On Feb. 16, 1947, she married Leo P. Cassidy at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Remsen. After their marriage, Dorothy and Leo made their home at a farmstead north of Remsen. Leo died Nov. 19, 1995.

Dorothy was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. She was treasurer of the Martha Circle and held the position of treasurer of the Remsen City Cemetery Board for many years.

Survivors include a sister-in-law, Mrs. Elmer (Myrne) Bogh of LeMars; and a number of cousins: Mrs. Franz (Sylvia) Schneider of LeMars, Mrs. Gwen Troxel of Seal Beach, Calif., Mrs. Mildred Dorr of Wilmette, Ill., Richard Schmidt of Remsen, and Mrs. Vance (Mariann) Harnack of Remsen.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Leo; and a brother Elmer Bogh.
