BRUCE TULLIS MEMORIAL
SERVICES SET SATURDAYMemorial services for 1st Lt. Bruce Tullis, missing and presumed dead, will be held Saturday at the Union township Presbyterian church located 8 miles south of Oyens. Services will be at 10 a.m.
Rev. James Ransom of the Presbyterian United Church of Christ, LeMars, will officiate for the military rites with honor guard and color guard by members of the air force.
Private memorial services were held recently at the University of Iowa college chapel, Iowa City. The services were in the same chapel in which Lt. Tullis was married Aug. 31, 1968.
Lt. Tullis, a member of the U.S. airforce, had been serving with the secret service signal intelligence department at Sinop, Turkey, since last October.
He was listed as missing July 17 in the Black Sea, after going sailing with a companion.
His mother, Mrs. Dolly Tullis, Oyens, was informed last week the search along the Black Sea coast was called off and that he was presumed to be dead. The body of his companion was found.
Survivors include his wife, Rochelle, Iowa City; his mother, Mrs. Dolly Tullis, Oyens; and five brothers, Gary, LeMars; Dennis and Randy at home; Bob in Sioux City; and Jack, Iowa City.
His father, John Tullis, died Oct. 4, 1965.
