Funeral services for Mrs. Herman (Everdina) Vander Well, 74, longtime LeMars resident, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 11, at First United Methodist Church, LeMars.

Rev. Everett Staats will officiate and burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, LeMars. Mauer funeral home is in charge of arrangements.

An Eastern Star service will be held Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Vander Well died as the result of a car-pedestrian accident on Central Ave. in LeMars. She was dead on arrival at St. Joseph Mercy hospital, Sioux City, about an hour after the 8:20 p.m. accident Wednesday.

Her husband remains hospitalized in satisfactory condition at Floyd Valley Hospital in LeMars. He sustained a pelvic injury in the same accident near the Royal Twin theater. Everdina Bloem, the daughter of Daniel and Fenje Lois Bloem, was born Nov. 1, 1902, in Rock Valley. She lived in Boyden for two years and moved to Maurice in 1921. She had lived in LeMars since 1943.

Her marriage to Mr. Vander Well took place Aug. 24, 1929, in Nevada.

Mrs. Vander Well was a homemaker and had also been employed part-time at Parkinson Music Store. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and LeMars Women’s Society of Christian Service, Eastern Star, and Past Matron’s Club.

Survivors are her husband, Herman; two sons, Donald (Bud) Vander Well, Dumas, Tex., and Dean Vander Well, of Des Moines; 7 grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Ann Van Geest, Inwood.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and a sister.
