LOIS M. UTESCH

Mrs. Harry (Lois) Utesch, 63, Plymouth County native and lifelong resident, died Oct. 26, 1983, at Floyd Valley Hospital, LeMars, after a long illness. She had been hospitalized for a week.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Brunsville, with Rev. Alfred Walck officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, LeMars, under the direction of the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home.

There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

The former Lois Eilks was born March 7, 1920, in Washington Township to Bentert and Emma Reese Eilks. She attended LeMars High School and Western Union, now Westmar College, receiving a degree in secondary education. She taught in various towns and she and her husband Harry farmed after their marriage Jan. 9, 1946, in Brunsville. They retired in 1969 to 534 Evelyn Drive, LeMars.

She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, ALCW, in which she held many offices, taught Sunday School and confirmation class at St. Peter’s and St. Paul’s for many years. She was a member of LeMars Mother’s Study Club and sang in the church choirs for many years.

She is survived by her husband, Harry Utesch, a son, Paul Utesch and a granddaughter, Michelle, all of LeMars.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
